Parakeet Cage Size

User Question
I want to but a parakeet and your website is really helpful. I was just wondering if you thought this cage was big enough for 2 or only one parakeet.(I have a tiny budget).

PetSmart Cage

Lisa's Answer
I would always get the largest cage you possibly can. Remember, this pet will live for 15-20 years or more and this cage is their entire world. Of course you can always upgrade the cage as you go, but it's important that they can at least turn around fully with their wings outstretched even when you have perches and toys in it. So you need a full wing-turning space IN the cage inside all the other stuff you add to it.

I'd start with one budgie and the largest cage you can get. By saving money and not buying two budgies that lets you buy a larger cage. Then later when you save up more money and have finished training the first keet, now you can add in a second one.
