Free Flying Birds and Droppings
User Question
I am educating myself between pet store bought and hand raised birds. I have a 6 year old son who is looking for a first pet to "bond" with. I have been purposely putting off purchasing a bird just to test his determination. He is still motivated even after a month, so I guess I should consider his request. :-) I want to make sure that this is a positive experience for all the members of the family.
I do have a question only a mother can ask . . . When you let your birds fly "free" in the house, how many bird droppings do you find around the house? Since I am also the domestic engineer of the household, I wanted to get an idea of what I may be in for. :-)

but the keets don't hover like helicopters over the entire room 24 hours a day :) Say you let them out for 2 hours on a given day. They'll find a spot they like, say the curtain rods, and hang out there chirping down to you. Then they'll go back to their cage for food, then back to the rod. So you just put paper towels beneath their favorite spots, and you're all set!
