Clipping the Wings

User Question
first let me say i love your site very helpful

ok i just got my forth keet and it (dont know it`s sex yet) we havent named it yet already has it`s flight wings and i just want to know if it`s safe for me to clip them so as i can train him or should i let the vet do it i just dont think it`s fair to my other birds that one can fly when the others have been here longer and they are waiting for theres to grow

the bird is pure white with red eyes. is there a site i can visit to get pictures of how to clip them. thank you

Lisa's Answer
I really do NOT advocate clipping a parakeet's wings. There's really no reason to clip her wings. She won't be going out of her cage until she's fully hand trained, so whether she *could* fly or not is really a pretty moot issue :)
