Single Female Laying Eggs

User Question
I have a 4 year old "keet" who recently laid 4 eggs and they seem to keep coming. I've never had this happen before and she seems to also be have huge poops that are about an inch long. is this normal? How long should I wait before I take the eggs out as I'm sure they are not fertilized? Any help you could give me would be great as I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

Just as an aside--I am 4 months pregnant with my first child--do you think she could sense that and it encouraged her maternal instincts?

Thank you!!!

Lisa's Answer
I'd leave them in there for 2-3 weeks so she feels she has "made a clutch" and doesn't keep trying to make more. Make sure to give her plenty of calcium rich foods and healthy veggies to replenish what her body is putting out in those eggs. Certainly she could sense the maternal things going on in her world and want to join in, keets are very smart and empathic :)
