Is my Parakeet Happy?
User Question
Lisa's Answer
First, are you doing the many basics listed on the website? These steps are all listed out in quite a lot of detail and it should be relatively easy to see if you are doing these things properly -
* Feeding her properly, with a good mix of seed and other foods * Giving her fresh water every day * Providing a clean bathtub to splash in * Offering enough room to stretch her wings out * Selecting fun toys for her to play with * Play music during the day to keep her ears entertained * Interact with her so she feels part of the flock * Make sure nighttime is quiet and dark so she gets ample sleep
If you do these things, and your parakeet eats well, sleeps well, sings along with music sometimes and just looks alertly at her world sometimes, that sounds like a happy parakeet. Of course, a vet is the person to really ask if you have worries about your keet.
