Breeding and Travel

User Question
I have 2 parakeets, a boy and a girl. I really do think they will have babies, should I put nesting stuff in their cage? What should I do to take care of the eggs? How many eggs min. and max. can they have? Can the mom get seriously hurt if not taken care of properly during the time of laying? If so, then what should I do to take care of her?

I'm moving to a state thats 9 hours away. What should I do for them during the drive?

If you are thinking about breeding, you need to make a vet appointment with both birds and have a long talk with him about what is involved. You will need to buy vitamins, equipment and other items and be prepared to be there 24 hours a day during the breeding process and chick raising. I have more info on that here -

but it is a serious undertaking.

As far as travel, I have a page that goes over travel with a keet -
