User Question
i have had my parakeet for 5 months he is starting to grow out out his bitting stage. but when he gets on your finger he still bits. the only time it hurts is when he launches at me. my family has been helping sidney [parakeet] has grown attached to us, and he loves my dog. but why does he launch sometimes when he bites.

he got out of his bitting stage when we took his mirror out. but now he stares at hinself in the bell it is funny. i could use some help thanks.

Lisa's Answer
Keets don't have a biting stage. What you are calling a biting stage is the fact that you are scaring it instead of training it. It is finally getting used to you and not biting any more because of that. PLEASE please read the training material on my site on how to train your bird, it should *never* include doing things that cause your bird to bite you.
