Not Eating and Drinking

User Question
My two brand new keets aren't even eating and drinking. All they do is sit in the cage and stay there in one spot. They aren't really scared of my hand and will somewhat let me put my hand close to them. They are very shy and I'm worried that they might not even want to have anything to do with me.

I want them to like and trust me because I have been to your site many of times and I think that it's great. I really wanted keets after I've seen this sight and now they are kinda skitish. So if you could please help me out, that would be terrific!! Thanks!!

Lisa's Answer
Really, if your keets weren't eating and drinking they'd be dead. They don't eat for hours on end, just for a few moments. So they are eating and drinking when you aren't around, because they don't trust you yet. That is normal, trust takes a while to build up.

Training takes a while and requires daily practice. Please read through the hand training steps on the site, and if you work through it each day, they will soon be tame!
