Alarm Clocks and Birds
User Question
I was wondering... early in the morning my alarm clock goes off when it is time for me to get up and my parakeet sleeps in the same room with me. My alarm clock is very loud because I have problems not hearing it. Do you think this sudden loud noise is bad for my keet??
Lisa's Answer
It will certainly startle the keet, but keets get used to a routine and after a while it'll just be like a rooster crowing or any other normal morning noise to your keet. That being said, I would try putting the alarm clock right next to your bed. When I was in school I had an alarm clock that made a CLICK noise and then would blast its alarm. It got to the point that that CLICK noise would wake me up wide awake and I would go racing to hit the alarm button, because I didn't want to be blasted by the alarm noise. So you can definitely train yourself to react to it, if you work on it.
