Female Parakeets Together

User Question
I already have a female bird (pretty sure it's a female). If I add another female, would that be totally out of the question? If so, do male and female parakeets always breed if you put them together? Is there a way from stopping the breeding?

Lisa's Answer
I have four female parakeets and they are quite happy together :) There is no problem at all having multiple females in a group. If you have a male and female there is *always* the chance of them having babies. I've never heard of being able to neuter / spay a parakeet - they are so tiny that I imagine it might be impossible to do.
