My Parakeets Aren't Drinking

User Question
I just got my parakeets yesterday, and I don't think one of them has taken a sip of water. its clean, its placed up high, its not too cold, but it is tap water. I know they add stuff to tap water like some chemicals I think, is that why they're not drinking?

Lisa's Answer
Really, they are drinking when you're not there. Parakeets are very shy about eating and drinking. They would die of dehydration if they weren't drinking. Lots of parakeets drink tap water, just replace it daily and it should be fine :)
