Scratching the Head

User Question
We've had my bird for a while now and we've noticed that while he is sitting on his perch he will rest his head on it. He will then look around the room with his head upside down. It almost seems that he is scratching the sides of his head. We used to have another bird with him, but when they started fighting, we got rid of the other bird and maybe that has something to do with it.

Lisa's Answer
I doubt the keet's scratching its head has to do with it being lonely, it is more likely that its head is actually itchy, or that he has fun looking at the world upside down :) Keets are very acrobatic, many like to climb upside down and hang upside down. But I would scratch his head for him, keets can have trouble scratching their own heads. And I would check for mites just in case.
