When to Start Hand Training

Hi! I just got 2 new keets. Their names are Tweety and Twitter. They let me pet them and they respond when I talk to them. Does this mean they like me? Because a lot of people say they do it to everybody. Is this true?

Also, I'd like to know, since they let me pet them and respond to my voice, does this mean I can start the " up " command training? Thanks.

Parakeets are VERY smart and can learn the names of individual people, so definitely your keets are responding to you as a person. They are quite intelligent and know the difference between you and other people that visit them.

You can start finger training a parakeet from the day you get them. So I would definitely start, and be sure to work on it daily. I have full instructions on finger training on my site!
