Parakeet Keeps Moulting

User Question
It seems my green male keet molts more often than not. Each time, it gets more intense; each time he generates more dander, black dander-like spots and what looks like skin. I put vitamin drops in his water and mix some moulting seeds in with his regular stuff. Otherwise, he seems to be fine - he eats and chirps and seems OK. Is there anything more I should be doing? Thanks for the advice.

Lisa's Answer
I would really not advise putting vitamins in the water. That can cause bacteria to breed and the parakeet not to drink as much. It is far more important that keets get their vitamins naturally - by eating a healthy mix of greens, tuna, egg, etc. I have information about this on the site.

But all of that being said, I would take the keet immediately to a vet. Something is obviously wrong with the keet and only a vet can properly diagnose it.
