What does it mean when a male keet puffs out his chest?

Keets aren't like lions :) A bird's feathers are what it uses to regulate body temperature.

It could be that your keet is freezing cold and trying to keep warm. It could be that your keet is sleepy, and preparing for a nap. It could be that your keet is sick, and trying to conserve his strength. I would start with the warm aspect and make sure your keet is in a warm, non-drafty area and is covered at night. If your keet still does this frequently, and shows other signs of illness, call a vet.
