Parakeets and Mirrors

Hi my female parakeet keeps pecking at the mirror, and her feathers on her chest are standing up, can you tell me what this means and why????

Your keet probably thinks she has a friend in the mirror and is trying to be friends with it. I have pages on the website about mirrors - I really don't recommend having mirrors in cages for several reasons. If this is just a mirror in the house, and your hand-trained keet is visiting it while she is out for play-time, that's fine of course :)
