Bonding and Fluffing
User Question
3 days ago i bought a parakeet. I beleive it is a male & it is my first bird. I am doing well and so is he. I am curious to know what he is doing when he "fluff's up"? I would also like if you could give me a little heads up about the "bonding" that I am working with. I have read a lot about them, but no one really answer my questions. He is not vocal yet, which is normal i am sure. Anyway if you could give me the basics too that would be very helpful.

If you're looking for questions to be answered, our forum is full of helpful information! The lisashea.com website talks a lot about fluffing up - it is how parakeets trap heat against their body. It's like a human putting on a down coat. So then the question is, why is your keet wanting to stay warm? It could be the room is too cold. It could be the keet just wants to take a nap. It could be the keet is sick. You need to figure out what the cause is.
I have a *ton* of information on the site about how to train and bond with your keet, read through and enjoy :)
