Feather Plucking

User Question
Hello, My parakeet is plucking his feathers on his chest and he is rubbing his face on a stick. This is causing the feathers around his eye to come off. What could he have and what do I need to do to help him? Thank you, Ashley

Lisa's Answer
A little bit of preening is normal, but it sounds like your keet is worrying at the feathers because something bothers him. It might be mites - I would take the keet in to a vet for a checkup, to make sure nothing is wrong.
