Pulse and Respiration

User Question
what is the actual pulse and respiration for keets? does it change depending on its size?

Lisa's Answer
I don't know how you could test that safely, I honestly don't know. But even for humans, it differs not only from person to person but from situation to situation. A person's pulse is different when they are asleep than when they've just walked around the house. Different people simply have different metabolisms. So I would be VERY hesitant to say any reading is "normal" for every single parakeet in the world. It would be much more important to know that your parakeet tends to normally breathe at X rate - but that for the past 2 days the parakeet seems to be breathing very quickly. That is what you watch for - changes from the norm.
