Communicating, Baths and Fun

User Question
Hello lisa, I just got my first two parakeets last christmas at the same time and it's now feb and I was wondering the following:

1) Why is my parakeet not communicating with me?

2) Why isn't it taking a bath every time i put water in the bird bath?

((( I just got my birds wings cliped today too! )))

3) When will I actually be able to have fun with it?

4) Tell me am I doing something wrong?

((( By the way, I did read your site already thats why I asked question #4.)))

Lisa's Answer
Hand training is a task you need to work on daily. The more you build up the trust and connection between you and your keet, the more that she will fly to you, play with you, warble to you and in general have fun with you.

Keets need to learn about bathtubs. Make sure the water is lukewarm and that you bring the tub slowly to her, while the keet is on your finger. Of course if your keet isn't hand trained yet, that is your first priority! I have full information about hand training and bath training on my site.
