How Long does Training to Talk Take?

I bought a budgie about a week ago. He is a male and still a baby. I am trying to teach him to talk and was wondering how long that should take? I know it varies from one bird to the next, but I was just looking for a general length of time. Thanks for your help and I love this site!!! It has helped me so much!

It can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months - it all depends on how much time you spend with your keet. It's like anything else - if you avoid your keet for weeks, and then just say a few words, the keet won't know that those words are meaningful. But if every morning you go into the room and say "good morning!", your keet is very smart and will learn what that means :)
