Keets Afraid of Breeding

User Question
I am trying my breed my 2 budgies but they're afraid of their mating box, what can I do?

Lisa's Answer
You should ALWAYS talk to a vet about breeding issues. Make sure both keets are fully checked out and healthy before you submit them to the stress of breeding. Make sure you have appropriate vitamins. Make sure your vet knows you are doing this and you have his phone number for 24 hr access. Make sure you have the equipment ready to handle stuck eggs and such. Breeding an animal is a serious task and you are fully responsible for handling all emergencies that result. You have to be prepared to be there 24 hours a day once the eggs start to come.
