Keet Trying to Escape Cage

User Question
my keet is about 3 months old and recently has been acting strange. He is trying to bite through his cage, almost like he is going crazy. I do let him out of his cage alot, but I don't know if its normal to do this. He also bit me today. He has never climbed around his cage like this before, is there something wrong?

It's good that you're paying close attention to changes in your keet's behavior. If this is sudden, new behavior, then it certainly can mean that something is wrong in the cage. I have gotten an email from a person whose tame keet suddenly went crazy flapping around. It turns out they had the keet in a sunny window and the keet was literally overheating - once they turned on the air conditioner and moved the cage to a cooler spot the keet was fine. Keets can't tell you what is wrong. They can only try to give you an alarm that something is bothering them.

Try looking around at the cage. Is it in a breezy area? In direct sunlight? Somewhere really cold? Do your best to make sure the keet is as comfortable as possible, has fresh food, fresh water, etc. If you really can't figure anything out after a few days, head in to a vet.
