Tracking Down a Lost Keet

My parakeet flew away. It is a green parakeet and has been missing for one day. It has very long wings and escaped while i changed food. It flew into the trees but im afraid the neighborhood cat will eat it. I sprinkled bird food everywhere and i put the cage in place easy to see. My keet also had a blue pal parakeet. I put him on the watch and told him to chirp when his old buddy is spotted. It's been 24 hours. what should i do???

It sounds like you're doing the best you can - leave the cage out where the keet can see it so it is tempted to fly down to it. But I'm sorry to say that most keets that escape never come back. I can understand your keet gettin gout of the cage when you were changing the food - but how did it get out of the house? You should always have all windows and doors closed when working with your cage, in case of emergency. Make sure you are very careful going forward!
