Untrained Keet Flying Around
User Question
Hi,i have a problem with my parakeet Ihave had him for about 2 years and i never had the chance to train him at time he is so frightend of me and at other times he is happy to hop onto my finger,but when he dose hop on my finger it is only for like 5 seconds.some times i try to get him out of the cage then he flys around like a maniac smashing into walls,im afarade he will injer him self. Every once in while i can manage to get him onto my sholder but if i move just a little bit he starts chirping like he is being killed. i need help please help me

Well, training a keet only takes a few weeks but it is your responsibility to put in the time and energy to do it! In the meantime you should *never* let a keet out of the cage that is not hand trained, it could be seriously injured. If there was an emergency you'd never be able to get the keet back into its cage. Take the time to hand train your bird. It is well well worth it to have a tame, loving pet at your side for its entire lifetime.
