Parakeets and a Nest

User Question
Do female parakeets need a nest to breed?? please respond... i need to know! :)

Lisa's Answer
Hopefully if you've been reading my site you know the clear answer to this. If you are breeding a keet, you *need* to talk to a vet and get both of your keets checked out for health. You need to make sure they are physically up to breeding, that you have the nutrients and vitamins all set, that you are ready for the 24 hour care, that you have the equipment necessary and are ready with the vet's 24 hour call number in case of emergency. Taking care of a mom and babies is a very serious responsibility. That all being said, do humans need a bed to have sex? No, they have sex anywhere they want to. Keets will breed even if there isn't a "nest" around.
