Parakeets and Beak Habits

User Question
I have a keet who is about six years old. His "companion", also a male, died about four months ago, but he doesn't seem to miss him. I've noticed recently that when he's just sitting on his perch, he opens and closes his beak very quickly and doesn't seem to be able to stop unless his attention is drawn by me. Other times, he's fine and whistling and chirping to himself happily. Is this a disease of some kind or just a habit? Thanks.

I don't know how you can say a keet does not miss another keet. Keets will miss their friends without obvious signs. Keets are very much flock creatures. I don't think whistling is a disease. Chirping is not a disease. Animals love other animals. They miss their friends ...
