Going on Vacations with a Keet

User Question
I was thinking of buying a cute parakeet. Only sometimes i go on vacations with my family, especially in summer we might go away for a week! Can I keep my keet at home or should I really take it with me.

Lisa's Answer
If you were going to a summer home for a bunch of months I would say to take the keet - but if it's only for a few days, that's a lot of moving around and trauma for the keet, and just as the keet was settling in to the new location, you'd start the whole process over again. It's really best to leave the keet at home. See if a friend could stop by the house to make sure the food and water are fresh every few days or so.
