Hand Training in a Group
User Question
HELLO. MY NAME IS AMBER AND I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT MY 2 BUDGIES! I HAVE HAD 4 BUDGIES AND 2 WERE Are GREEN/YELLOW MULTI COLORED AND THE OTHER 2 ARE WHITE/BLUE/AND GRAY COLORED! I ALWAYS HAVE MORE TROUBLE HAND TAMING THE WHITE/BLUE AND GRAY ONES MORE THAN THE GREEN/YELLOW ONES! AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. I HAVE HAD THE BUDGIES FOR ABOUT 7 MONTHS AND I KNOW ALOT BY LOOKING ON THE INTERNET AND I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TAME THEM, THE WHITES ARE ALWAYS THE ONES FLYING AROUND THE CAGE WHILE THE GREEN/YELLOW ONES ARE PERCHING ON MY FINGER AND LETTING ME PET THEM! I BARELY EVER TOUCH THE WHITES ONES BECUASE THEY ARE ALWAYS FLYING AROUND. SO I TRY TO GO BACK TO THE VERY FIRST STEPS OF HAND TAMING FOR THE WHITE/BLUE AND GRAY BIRDS BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING AT ALL! I REALLY LIKE THE GREEN/YELLOW ONES BUT I WISH THE OTHER WHITE ONES WOULD START TRUSTING ME LIKE THE OTHERS DID! AND I GOT THEM ALL FROM THE SAME PLACE,SO IT'S NOT LIKE THE GREEN/YELLOW ONES WERE MORE TRAINED AND I STARTED OFF TRAINING ALL OF THEM THE SAME TIME AND SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG,BUT IF YOU COULD GIVE ME SOME INFORMATION ON THIS, THAT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL!

Hey there, just so you know, typing in all capital letters is called "shouting" on the web and makes your message hard to read. But it's odd that after 7 months the two birds are still flying around when your hand is in the cage. It really is important that you work on training your keets every single day in order to build that trust level up. Make it a new focus in your daily parakeet schedule, to put your hand in and leave it there until the 2 "wild" keets settle down and realize it will be OK. Once you get them to that point, start with the hand training instructions, starting with the perch.
