Males and Breeding
User Question
i have one male and one female right now...my female is laying eggs right now and ive never had birds breed before...does the male usually stay away from the female after laying her first egg???he never sits on them or goes near the box..when the two are in the same cage together they make love but he doesnt want any thing to do with the eggs right now..ive read about 5 diff bird books and none of them say any thing about that..if u could help me please and thank you for your help

It's good to read books, but it is critical you have a vet you can call up immediately with issues like this - and that the keets are both checked out medically before you begin breeding. It is also important that you are there 24 hrs a day to watch over the mom and chicks in case egg binding or other emergencies occur. So make sure you call your vet up!
