Teaching Two Male Parakeets to Talk

User Question
I bought two young male parakeets yesterday. I wanted to teach them how to talk, but I read on your site having two will discouage human speech. Will I still be able to teach them speech together?

Lisa's Answer
I would definitely think they could learn to talk. Males are very active talkers and having two of them at the same time will mean they will encourage each other. If one learns to talk, the other will want to learn to talk too. If you teach them you can teach both at the same time, so it's less time as far as you are concerned.

Just follow the suggestions on the site, work on it daily and be sure you are right in their face where they can see it's your mouth moving and you, their owner, who is trying to communicate to them. After a while they'll try to communicate back to you!
