Importing Data from RSS into WordPress

Luckily for us, RSS feeds are an industry standard and very easy to import into a RSS blog!

First, set your RSS feed to contain all your entries you want to import. Often RSS feeds limit to just the last 5 or 10 entries. Modify yours to hold all the entries in your system.

Next, install and activate the standard RSS importer for WordPress.

Now go into Import and choose RSS.

What's nice is this importer will report line by line with the entries it was able to get in. If you jam at a certain point, just count down in your file, figure out what went wrong, and then import the rest of it.

You can turn Twitter feeds into this fairly easily. Just cut and paste your Twitter feed out to a text file, and then do a few search and replaces to get the entries to look like this:

gt; gt;WineIntro Newsgt; gt;Le Cigare Volant 2005 $27 13.5% alc - a Chateauneuf-du-Pape style blend from CA. 50% grenache. Dark fruits, tasty, Bob wants more bottles!gt; gt;7 Oct 2010 01:00:00gt; gt;

Then just import and you're set! Twitter doesn't have any categories or tags or titles.
