Preparing for Hummingbird Season
April is the month when hummingbirds are migrating northwards. The Live Hummingbird Migration Map helps you track exactly where the feathered creatures are on their movement northwards. Be sure your back yard is prepared for this gorgeous little bird!
Plant some Hummingbird-Friendly Flowers
There are many flowers and bushes that hummingbirds simply adore. When you're planning out your garden this year, make sure you have some around your home! You can also put out pots of flowers if you don't want to make a permanent change to your landscape.

Put Out Hummingbird Feeders
Be sure to put out 2 or 3 different kinds, in case your hummingbirds have one they're used to using. Also, I HIGHLY recommend getting a window feeder. I've always had many feeders out, but I would often go weeks between sightings. As soon as I stuck a feeder right in front of my desk window, I would see them multiple times a day.

Make some Hummingbird Nectar
Hummingbird nectar is VERY easy to make. You don't need to buy it! Just make a fresh batch up each week and keep your feeders clean and fresh. You don't want to feed your hummingbirds nectar that's more than a week old - nectar turns bad pretty quickly.
